Refining a concept into an engineering solution
Front End Engineering and Design is the phase that solves the engineering challenges before the team commits major funding to component design and the manufacture of parts.
The phase is still rather theoretical, and explores the trade-offs that must be made in areas such as temperature, stress, stability and throughput over a range of operating conditions. It is highly specialised and relies upon TPG's deep experience of the systems and operating environments in which they work.
This phase answers many of the what-if questions and is a vital part of managing the technical risk of a new development.
